Invitation to a Desert
« on: January 21, 2006, 12:43:56 PM »

Serge sat alone just outside the campsite where his cousin and sister slept, they were tired from a long journey toward Xexoria and since the Warheight line drew a lot of it's power from heat, and fire...the journey had gone well and they had covered much ground, but in the night, when all the heat was sucked from the desert, they were as normal travellers would be and had to rest until first light... As he yawned, he began writing a letter back home.
"Dear Amethyst, Syrus had told me not to inform many people back home where we were going, but I was thinking, and...since there are so many open positions in this new land, and people are beginning to leave Algeroth since Syrus II declined the throne until he aquired the same respect and power of his father, I know the White Phoenix Inn must be suffering. Please, come with us...my father is beginning to run out of your 'special brew' of alcohol anyway. Haha, if you do come, have a safe journey and...please hurry."
He opened a small pouch at his belt and, careful not to rattle them, selected two small talismans, one bearing Amethyst's name, and one bearing Algeroth's banner. He placed one on each side of the enveloped letter and they instantly touched each other as if the letter was never there, which signified that it was on it's way to it's recipient...

Amethyst was sitting beside her fire just begin to wake at the midnight hour, her days lately seemed to flow by quickly almost lost on her memory from bults of times when she would actually black out. A diary of her mothers guilts laid beside her upon a nightstand of marble, her finger was rested upon one page that she kept reading over this many months. The truth of her parentage, and reasons for loss of memory sometimes it was the begin stage of her wings growing, her father was not mortal, nor was he elven , but an angel that had come in the night one time gifting her mother with a child of elven and angel blood. Many sought her ut wishing to own this creature of purest soul. Females touch alone was known to heal even the worst wounds, or bring someone death if that was her desire. Standing from her chair did she move away from the sit towards the fire, her eyes watching the dancing flames eatting away at the wood. A hand extended into the fire did she pace it back and forth through the flames not feeling the burning, her hand draws back did she shake her head watching the wounds heal upon her flesh.
A light filled the room when the sound of a soft plop was heard behind her of something resting upon the nightstand. Amethyst turned towards the item, her eyes knowing when seeing the parchment appearing like this that there was only one person., or well two that knew how to send this kinda messages besides herself. A step then two brought her towards the table, her hand reached down to collect the parchment, her eyes scaned the seals only being proven right by their existance. She had heard of her friends fate of turning down the throne, and then disapearing with the twins though she had only known Serge when he came ot the tavern to seek out the peace that could be found there, and the well know training fields. He would always borrrow one of her many history books to take back to Sarah. Delicate fingers had torn the seal allowing the parchment to unfold to allow her eyes view of the contentions it held.
Dear Amethyst, Syrus had told me not to inform many people back home where we were going, but I was thinking, and...since there are so many open positions in this new land, and people are beginning to leave Algeroth since Syrus II declined the throne until he aquired the same respect and power of his father, I know the White Phoenix Inn must be suffering. Please, come with us...my father is beginning to run out of your 'special brew' of alcohol anyway. Haha, if you do come, have a safe journey and...please hurry.
A chuckle passed from between two rosey lips when her eyes read over the paper that she was holding, her hand caressed over the seal of both houses for a moment. She stepped to the fire each step was slow, her nostrils picking up the scent of the world they traveled in. Amethyst reached a hand forth collecting another log instead of writing would she use another form of answering, her wrist flicked the log forth into the fire place causing the flames to rise. As it sparked and cracked, her fingers weived in a circle in the flames, her other hand placing the parchement into the fire as it borned the two seals one red and other white formed together at the fires center. Whirling like a tunnel did it slowly form a silent pool of fire reviling the world of Xexoria to her eyes, and a camp in the desert under the nights sky.
The camp fires coals began to ignite rising up when she reached the tip of her finger into the picture touching the dieing ambers finding only Serge seemed to be awake at this late hour. As her hand draw upwards away from the fire pit that was before her in the firey pool did the fire form in the fire pit before Serge as if the wind had brought it to life. But weirdest thing thought it seemed to create a swirling at the center forming a portal to access the one created by Amethyst. When the picture cleared in the center was someone simular to Amethyst but oddest thing this female had wings it would take a second glance upon the figure to relise that it was her.
" Now Serge what will happen if Syrus learns that you contacted me. Especially if few are to know were he has gone. So tell me of this place that you travel to. " her voice was gentle like the wind as she spoke through the firey portal. It was like she was there in person but not really there just a firey form before him in the fires pit

"I am sorry, he has been so distant since he began chasing that fiend, and...he never seems happy anymore now that we've left the land that was so dear to his father, whom he held at the highest reguard." Serge turned back slowly noticing a ruffle of the tent's cloth, but as it died down he was sure it was just the wind or Sarah stirring in her sleep. Reassured, he turned back to the fire only to see her already in front of him poking, intrigued, at the magicks bourn of fire that had been conjured in the campfire that was dead no more than a few minutes ago. Sarah spoke with awe and in a tone loud enough to maybe wake their master and cousin. "Amethyst! How are you? I thought I'd never get to see you again..." She smiled childishly with her head cocked to the side and, smiling wide and shutting her eyes, a strand of blonde hair drifted before her blue orbs that brightened the night, if just a little. Serge paniced and ran up on the 'astral projection' and his sister confersing and hushed her. "Sarah, shhh! Do you want to wake Syrus, do you not remember what he told us about telling people where we were going!?"
He sighed and brushed back his own black locks from about his face and held his hand on his head thinking deeply. "We are in the land of Thule, heading to Xexoria, the Palace of Splendors to be exact. Our...over-read friend here tells us that it is made solidly of jewels! But..Sy..he hasn't been well, I believe since we left from the watchful eyes of Naos' blessed kingdom. He's going to have a tough time travelling again, but maybe if you came with us to this place..."
Sarah nodded, "Please Amy! It would mean sooo much if you could come...and...maybe bring a few of your books from your collection...?" She smiled slyly, trying to look as innocent as possible. "And my ignorant little brother here is right...Sy has not been right, and, normally he's fine, warmth or cold, but as the sun left the sky tonight he nearly collapsed, I fear that being away from his meditating as we travel is doing him harm, by letting Fortinbras gain more control... Naos! I wish I could help him rid himself of that curse, but, since he will not meditate in our presence, and we are never apart during travelling..." She looked away, giving up on the effort of keeping her own hair out of her face to conceal a single trickle running down her cheek.
The twins looked at each other, in a rare position, they were agreeing. They then looked to Amethyst pleadingly

Ame turned away from the fire for the moment after listening to the children, her figure moved towards the chest that rested beside her chair. She was one that dabled with magic, her hands worked the chests lock open before lifting the lid. Shuffling through the trunk for a moment did she take out a small box, and a wrapped parcel that seemed to be a heat protector around something. Returning to the fireplace did her hand holding the items reach into the fire while the other one reached up to pluck a phoenix red feather down did it burst into flames in her hand.
Wrapping the items in the feathers as they entered the fire would the image in the flames before the twins seem to flicker a moment then was holding the feather wrapped package, her figure barely standing with eyes closed as she put her telepathic knowledge into the fire portal to transport the items through. Voice almost a whisper spoke forth," I shall come upon the new dawn once I have rested after this. The wrapped item is a blanket weived in the flames of fire, and left in the sun for many days collecting inside it's threads heat, and fire. Place it upon Syrus at night when he sleeps it will give him more power through the cold nights. The box holds stones made from silver and crystal placed in a circle facing each symbol towards the other in the right positions will create a room ment for meditation it will draw forth the image of the place he likes to medicate the most into this room to make him feel at home. When I come I shall bring my book collection, and some of my private stash. Anything you wish for you Serge?" her tone was peaceful. Syrus and his family though they were her friends were like her family senses she had none alive to call as her own family, so she had taken them into her heart as her family more then friends.

Sarah, being giddy with excitement thanked Amethyst thoroughly, and then headed back to her tent before smiling widely and then giving Serge a playful thump on the shoulder. Serge was grinning from ear to ear amazed at Ame's gift of knowing...and having for the nth time in his life. Although Syrus was his cousin and this woman he held so close to his heart was not of his blood, he thought of them as his second parents and wouldn't dare ask of her what he did not utterly need. "All that I require is that I be strong for my king, Syrus II, you, and my new job of which I am taking. Ha, and unless you can do that, then I wish nothing for myself." He bowed low, he was much more formal and traditional than his sister.
A rustle of wind blew her tent again and his sister was asleep though he found himself rubbing his arm. "And maybe you could make my sister a little more serious...and quiet, he thought. He took the parcels from the fire from whence they floated and placed them in his satchel where he kept his quiver and the rest of his most necessary things. "You know, you absolutely never cease to amaze me, where do you learn the things you know, and retrieve these things that you posess...it seems that whenever I think I know you, there is always more to learn." He smiled once more and placed his bag upon the log which he did sit upon next. He rubbed his neck and yawned, noticing that it did not seem that Syrus would awaken. "Now that my sister has finally shut her great mouth, we can catch up without the fear of waking Sy..."

Ame settled into the chair near the fire did she continue to reach into her soul drawing on the life force of her spirit to keep the portal open," Well Serge best I can tell you to get strong is to eat well, train, and maybe take up meditation also. It strengthens your mind and senses. As for your sister well if everyone was serious and quiet this world would be a place of boredom. " She chuckles softly. A hand lifted did she pluck forth another log to place into the fire keeping it high for the time allowing the portal to last for a time more.
A smile played upon her face when he continued to speak especially of know her well," I pride myself upon learning new things. I didn't know my parents, and was raised by a wandering group of mercenies each had their skills. For some reason I seemed to catch onto allot of them really well, so spent most of my time training with one member of the group or another. But I got to say I have learned allot from the books I collect." her tone was peaceful when speaking forth.
The wind made the astral figure waver for a moment before once more relaxing, though she might be sitting it stayed standing in the ring of the rocks near the fires coals keeping them warm. As the image stayed with the life of the new log on the other end helped to give off more eat, and fire to allow the boy more warmth to ward of the cold of the evening. " So what do you wish to catch up on Serge?"

Sieg stood at the top of a sand dune in an unkown location in the deserts of Thule. As he scanned the horizon, his suspicion of the presence of his brother and two cousins there, were confirmed by the sight of a flickering flame, a camp fire. He snickered sadistically and extended his energies, supressing what warmth the desert night held for that party deep, deep into the sands. "Fool...your vulnerability amidst the cold will be your death among these sands. In the court of Algeroth, you had your glory in the sun, but among these frozen mountains and icy oceans of sand, I brother, will rule supreme."
Sieg was well aware that Syrus would not have left the throne if he thought that he was after the castle. No, it was the members of the Warheight line that the great Shifter, Sieg sought to destroy. And it was rumored that a relative of theirs had died in the last fight against Isabella for the throne of Xexoria, a member of a black ops team that had failed to assasinate her. He left behind a child, and that child had to be found and protected by Syrus, lest Sieg could find and eliminate him or her. It was unbeknownst to either brother which it was. He gasped as he saw the male Ravenshield twin, talking to a face in the fire after a small flash of lights had appeared in Serge's clutches. Indeed, it was that meddlesome Amethyst, and soon after she appeared, Serge, and his recently approached sister Sarah, seemed to be receiving gifts from amid the flames. He had been wrong, the family was awake in their camp. And now, Amethyst was apparently involved in their trek to this new land. It was not the right time to attack. He walked over the ridge of sand out of sight in the direction of the palace. And it was said that a great black bird-like figure was seen to soar through the skies the same way not too long after he disappeared...

Serge sighed and stretched as he fidgeted upon the log. "I believe that...well...he has followed us. I think that Sieg might attempt to ascend the Xexorian throne to gain foothold against Sy. I cannot take this fiend alone, whatever shall I do if I must fight him to defend Sy and this new home?" Serge laid out along the log with his hands clasped on his chest. "Worse yet, I believe...he has been watching us during the nights. I think...I think he might have learned to transform into more powerful beasts. As a mere shapeshifter he was not of much a threat. But if he can learn the more powerful forms, and master transformation into a demon. Then he is one step closer to achieving his goal in becoming a god among earth." He looked away from Amethyst and fell off the log at what he had seen in the sky. It looked like Kaos, the Cloaked. The immortal enemy of Naos, the god that governed Algeroth and gave divine right to the Warheight Clan so many ages ago. "Th-there, do you see? I do not know if it is Kaos, for he is not often seen, but maybe...what if Sieg has learned to shift into a phoenix!?" Serge began to climb onto the log once more. "I fear for our lives, and if there is anyone who can figure out how to stop him...it's you...and Sy. He cannot do it alone."
